The Gurlitt collection, Bern
For the first time in decades, hundreds of works of art, hoarded by a German art dealer, are being displayed in Bern. The exhibition Gurlitt Status Report “Degenerate Art” - Confiscated and Sold at the Kuntsmuseum is certainly important, however, much of its importance comes from the story surrounding the exhibition rather than the art itself. To view this exhibition a little homework and background is worthwhile.
It's always the others: Ai Weiwei, Lausanne
This fabulous and thought-provoking exhibition by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, at the Palais de Rumine in Lausanne, showcases some of the artist's most recent and monumental works. With over 40 works of art on display, this exhibition discreetly takes over the spaces of the museums of archaeology, history, zoology and geology leading the visitor on a treasure hunt through its airy interiors.
Audrey Hepburn & Hubert de Givenchy
This exhibition, entitled An elegant friendship, is worthy of any major museum and instead, in honour of Audrey Hepburn’s connection to Morges and Tolochenaz, we are so fortunate that it is taking place in three locations in the lakeside town of Morges, Switzerland. Curated with the full collaboration of Hubert de Givenchy himself it is a tribute to his partnership with his muse and most famous client Audrey Hepburn and a celebration of his talent as a couturier.
